Ahh, that feels better.
Yesterday I realized that one of the reasons I haven’t been cooking a ton lately is that I hate the florescent light in my kitchen. During the late spring/summer/early fall, there’s enough natural light to work with without turning it on. During the winter, not so much. Florescent lights can contribute to depression and headaches; plus, they’re so bright! No wonder my kitchen—usually my favorite room in the house—has been bumming me out.
So, last night I dragged a floor lamp with five adjustable arms into the kitchen, then stuck a small desk lamp in one particularly dark corner next to the fridge. It was so much more pleasant and warm-feeling in my kitchen last night! Ah. Problem solved. It’s amazing how much lighting affects things.

It really is amazing. I sort of wish we all still had raging great fireplaces.
