It’s days like this …

It’s days like this that I am tremendously glad that my office is a bit removed from the “main offices” where most of my coworkers are. I’m not totally isolated, but it’s quieter where I work. Most importantly, it’s drama-free up here. Today a coworker vented some frustrations to me about a spat that she and another coworker had just had in the main office in front of God and everybody. It was all I could do not to put my fingers in my ears and sing “la la la la!” I like workplace drama as much as I like personal drama.

Now conflict, conflict isn’t so bad. I can deal with a little healthy conflict going on around me. That’s just fine. But drama? NO thanks.

Plus, having an out-of-the-way-office also means that I get to play my music at an audible level and answer personal phone calls without having to duck into the bathroom to keep people from hearing anything too private.

So, no, I would not trade my tiny, private office with two little windows partially shaded by trees, for all the spacious, sun-drenched offices downstairs.
