To Begin Where I Am

I'm happy, hope you're happy too ... sordid details following.
Happy 2012, lovers.
In preparation for the new year, B and I spent yesterday running errands and cleaning the house. I really loved the idea of waking up to mopped floors, sparkling windows and fresh linens. I feel very determined that 2012 will be a year of clean slates, and I wanted my house to mirror that. And it was lovely to wake up to the fresh, tidiness of it.
Last night we kept it simple, making Mexican food at home, then meeting friends for beers at MBBC. We hijacked the big screen TV to watch the ball drop at midnight, kissed, clinked glasses, lit sparklers and went home signing to the radio.
Having taken it really easy last night because I figured starting a new year with a migraine and an upset stomach is probably a dumb idea, I woke up without a traced of a hangover, drank a chia kombucha for my health, then curled up on the couch with coffee. I had to cook Braden some extra-cheesy, extra-garlic-Tobasco-saucy eggs to convince him to get out of bed at a reasonable time, but thankfully the allure of the eggs prevailed, and we made it to church on time.
At church we celebrated communion, and it made me really glad that New Year’s Day fell on a Sunday this year. What better way to begin a new year?
I don’t have resolutions to share, because usually when I tell people specific goals, I end up self-sabotaging (I know—I’m working on it), but I will tell you this: all my goals this year involve honoring my commitments to myself and to God—and that’s it. I’ve made us both some promises that I think it’s time to cash in on.
So … it’s a new year. Hallelujah.
Oh! One other thing: for those of you whom I’ve had a chance to talk with, you know some potentially big changes are on the horizon (NOT children). So please send us your prayers for guidance and awesomeness.
Happy merry!
